Typical "For Dummies" Perfection

This book covers it all and leaves no stone unturned, which is typical of any "For Dummies" book. Keep in mind this book is about the planning, building, functions, and construction of beehives. This book is NOT about beekeeping in general, as the title should tell you, but still--take note!

If you are a beekeeper who would like to learn how to build your own hives, or if you are a carpenter or craftsperson who'd like to make money making hives for beekeepers, then this is an excellent resource for you. We haven't been keeping bees for too long, but we've learned that the hives and equipment can add up! We frequently search Craigslist and other sources for handmade hives and accessories. Anyone learning to build beehives should enjoy their profits, as beekeeping is a growing hobby and many beekeepers are in need.

Or, if you'd simply like to build one or two hives for yourself, this is still a valuable resource. The book covers several styles of hives for construction, such as the Langstroth and a top bar hive and an observation hive. There are probably many creative hives out there to be discovered, this book covers several of the more common.

The diagrams and images are clear and helpful in understanding hive construction and function. The book also covers many common hive accessories and how to construct them, such as top feeders, hive stands, solar wax melters (that one is new to us!), and frames. Like I said, no stone has been left unturned. If you are interested in hive construction, look no further.

This is probably the 2nd book I'd say is a must have for beekeepers, the first being The Beekeeper's Bible, which has been our favorite resource. For a beekeeper, even if you're not going to end up building a hive, I think you can learn a few things from this book. It's worth checking out! I thought this book was more based on his playing. It covers chords and changes etc... It was my fault I didn't read the description very well. The book is pretty accurate from what I can tell though. Worthwhile to the player that only wants to learn the song structure without all of the fills and solos.

Great Songbook

Fantastic songbook. Contains some of Brad's greatest compositions. I only wish their were more volumes in this series as there is much more of his music I would like to learn. The production quality is first class. The arrangements are relatively simple yet sufficient for performance. Highly recommended for any Brad Paisley fan wishing to learn some of his best music.

Could've Been Better.

Very short book. More like a pamphlet. Basic, introductory information. There was nothing in the book that couldn't be found by doing a Google search. Very disappointing. The topic is of being witty is so specific and there aren't many books on the topic. I felt as if the author could've capitalized on that and gave an in depth explanation of the mechanics of being witty, instead of only doing the bare minimum.

Don't waste time reading how to be witty from an author who is not

Max (the author): I'm sorry for giving you one star, but this is not personal. This is my honest review, and my goal is not to help a friend (I don't know you) but to give other Amazon users reasons to make an informed decision.
I do believe that those other users who gave you four or five stars are either your friends or people who have not read any other book on humor, and therefore are easily impressed. Just look at the grammatical errors on the subject line and you'll confirm what I mean without wasting time reading their rah-rah.
These are just a few reasons why I believe reading this book is a waste of time:
1) As I said in the subject line, the author is not witty. Saying something is not the same as teaching something.
2) The writing style is clearly that of an amateur. Anybody who has read books by professionals and books by high school students knows the difference. This one fits into the second category, as other neutral reviewers have pointed out.
3) The author seems to have read other books on the subject and then summarized their information here. For instance, the six elements of humor that Max lists here are (by coincidence?) identical to the six elements listed in the book Comedy Writing Secretes. The difference is that in that other book the author takes time to explain and demonstrate them. Not only that, he gives you the opportunity to practice with interesting exercises. I don't know the author of Comedy Writing Secrets either, but he or she is clearly a professional and informed author.
4) Trainers say that "telling is not training". All this author does is regurgitate information, not knowledge.

One of the problems with the latest advances in self-publishing is that anybody can decide to write on any topic, read a few books about it, Google the subject, create an amateur cover that overpromises, and voila! The inclusion of chapters on instrumental analytical techniques and organic reactions and mechanisms puts this book way ahead of others currently on offer for this area. Anyone involved in teaching a foundation chemistry course, especially for students with a limited chemical background, would do well to consider adopting this as a core text. About the Author
Jonathan Crowe is a science publisher and science writer, based in Oxford. He received a BSc Honours Biochemistry degree from the University of Warwick in 1997, and has since pursued a career in science publishing, involving the development of textbooks for both the A-Level and undergraduate
science markets. His science writing credits include a runner-up prize in the 2001 Daily Telegraph/BASF Young Science Writer Awards. Dr Tony Bradshaw is Head of Section and Principal Lecturer in the School of Biological and Molecular Sciences, Oxford Brookes University. As well as managing the Cell
and Molecular Biosciences section, Dr Bradshaw is also School Safety Advisor, and Field Chair for the Cell and Molecular Biology, Biological Chemistry, and Cell Biology and Biotechnology degree programmes. Dr Bradshaw received a BSc Honours degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Adelaide
in 1969, and was awarded a PhD from Flinders University in 1973, with a thesis entitled 'Bridged Ring Systems'. Teaching commitments involve interdisciplinary topics in areas covering molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacology, toxicology, and organic chemistry. His principal
research interest is in molecular oncology, an area in which he has published eleven papers.
Dr Paul Monk is Senior Lecturer in Physical Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Materials at Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester, where he has lectured and researched since 1991. Dr Monk gained a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry and a PhD on electrochemistry from the University of
Exeter. His research investigates electrochromism and the development of electrochromic materials, a subject area in which he has published over forty journal articles and several monographs. He is the author of two textbooks, Fundamentals of Electroanalytical Chemistry (Wiley, 2000); and Physical
Chemistry: Understanding our Chemical World (Wiley, 2004).

of us who were planning to launch One World, this book was a major challenge. We needed to
show that Black people do buy books -- and we truly needed this book to work. I'm happy to

that he could get used to getting his great message across. He was absolutely wonderful

BE CAREFUL WHAT VERSION YOU BUY!

Amazon has done us a huge disservice by lumping all the reviews for the various "original" versions of this book together. The version I purchased (black cover with money on the bottom, kindle version) is riddled with errors where the publisher evidently SCANNED the book in and then didn't bother to edit the results. Page numbers appear randomly in the middle of paragraphs, "m" appears where clearly "in" was intended and in some cases paragraphs just end in the middle of a sentence. This is a great book but some of the publishers have done a terrible job reproducing it and Amazon isn't helping by grouping very different copies together in the same review group.

I hope to update this review when I find a less crappy copy of this book, but avoid the version with the black cover with money on the bottom. (See pictures)

Great content but horrible format, see recommendation.

Yes this is the Original edition and is worthy of five stars for the content, there is no denying or disputing that. However, my beef is with the format of this version. I took a picture so you can see what i am referring to. The book could have been reduced to half it's size in volume and thickness due to the way the Napolean Hill foundation formatted this book. It is off centered where there is about an inch of blank space on top, 2 inches of blank space from left and bottom. The words go in too deep into the center of page and results in an awkward and annoying read. Taking these facts into consideration, you are basically getting a mass market paperback book. After a little more research i came across this edition: ISBN 1593302002. It is also the original edition from 1937 but also contains extensive footnotes, endnotes, appendices, and an index. It is a much better physical book overall in size and feel as well as better fonts, format, and quality of paper. I would recommend that version over this one.
Another issue is with the Kindle version of this edition by the Napoleon Hill foundation. Compared to any other e-book, the font is light with hardly any contrast whatsoever. Text is light gray instead of black which makes it very diffcult to read, you can see for yourself by sampling the book to your Kindle before purchasing which I recommend anyone do before making any e-book purchase. The Napoleon Hill foundation needs to fix this.
