Richard Blum has been a network specialist with the U.S. Department of Defense for more than 13 years and has programmed in C, C++, Java, and C#. He has also volunteered for a nonprofit organization, doing network administration and support. One of the best programming books I've ever read ... PERIOD.

Very clear and laid out. If you know a little C# and have an interest in writing a network program to send, receive or test network connections, you can't do better than this book.

somewhat disappointing

incredibly good theme; structure seems acceptable, illustrations usually efficient, quotations well chosen. But then it is so much about commenting the author`s own intentions, and far too little about the subject. Writing three pages about what will be dealt with in the chapter, one more about the structure of the chapter, and two pages about what has been purportedly demonstrated on the chapter, is not enough for a 20 pages chapter that actually fails to demonstrate anything, but the author's ability to rephrase those he quotes.

Tremendous Resource

There isn't a book like this on the market for CRNA's. Its all questions. Without a doubt its worth the small price as the questions are as rigorous and board like as those found on very expensive products like Valley, prodigy, etc. This purchase in my mind is a no-brainer for SRNA's. The doc's have a lot of books with just questions - this is really our first one available for CRNA's. Many kudos to the authors for their efforts.

Update 05/28. Just passed the boards today and wanted to get an update on this while it was fresh in my mind. I found doing questions in this book and in the website provided to be more helpful than prodigy or memory master questions. I also used both of those and found them very helpful. But with 1600 questions of high yield content this book was very solid. I think this book's questions win the day in the question market primarily because they are consistently high yield content. Rarely did I come across a question where I didn't feel like I really needed to know that material. Many times I didn't know but I knew I needed to know.

If I was a gambling person (which I'm not) I would say someone who knew the contents of the material provided in this 1600 questions could pass boards without any other resource (assuming of course you covered the bulk of material during your program and had a decent grasp of the material) and really went over these with a fine tooth comb. This is a very comprehensive book with very challenging questions. At the very least it is a dirt cheap supplement to your study arsenal.

Not bad....

I am in CRNA school. I bought this book and use it to test myself after studying for an exam. I like the questions, but the I wish the answers and rationales were at the end and not immediately after the question. My second problem is that I have found a couple of errors or contradicting information in it so far.

For example. On page 25, question #5:
"A patient with chronic bronchitis will likely show signs and symptoms of which of the following? (choose two that apply.)
Answer: increased risidual volume (RV) and increased PaCO2.
Rationale: Asthma is a restrictive pulmonary disorder that can result in trapping of gases in the alveoli. This trapping of gases leaves an increased volume in the lungs and decreases expulsion of CO2, thus the arterial tension of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) increases.

The references is Morgan and Mikhail 2006, page 576. I looked and didn't find it there. However, in the on page 573 in Morgan and Mikhail, Asthma is listed under Obstructive pulmonary disease, not Restrictive disease as the above rationale suggests.

Example two: page 27, question #15:
"All of the following are restrictive lung diseases, except:
Answer: c. asthma (but wait!!! I thought they just said asthma is restrictive?!)
Rationale is from Nagelhout and Plaus handbook P. 603 and is consistent with what I read.

anyway, all this makes me wonder whether I'm learning the wrong thing sometimes on topics that I'm not strong in. Hence, the tree stars.

Good Book - Don't Trust Online Content

The book itself is wonderful. It is written in the same order as the NBCRNA exam outline which is very helpful to be able to find particular areas that you need to brush up on. This book has a large number questions to help in preparing for the exam. This book does come with a link to an online review which I have found to have problems with the questions and answers. For instance in the book the answer may be C so the computer says that the answer is C but the options for answers are not in the same order as the book in which case C would not be the correct response. Good book but be careful with the online content.

Feeling great on the plan!

I bought this book at my chiropractor's office, and have been doing the advanced plan for over a month now. I am feeling great, and feel that this is the first "diet" that I can stick to for the rest of my life, and isn't that what a good diet should be, a permanent lifestyle change? I have been a yo-yo dieter throughout my adult life, but never sticking with a permanent change, and thus regaining the weight that I worked so hard to lose. At first I went through sugar withdrawal, which took a couple of weeks, but now I'm no longer craving it. I am losing weight, slowly but surely, and my appetite has normalized. The thing I like best, though, about this plan is I don't feel deprived and hungry all the time, like I've felt on other diets. Every meal is to be balanced with a protein, good fat, and carbohydrates...with this combination, I'm satisfied for several hours, and I'm finding that the longer I'm following the plan, that my energy levels are improving every day. My chiropractor has shown us just how easy it can be to follow the "Maximized Living" plan...I drink a smoothie every morning now, made with coconut milk, almond milk, berries, and whey protein powder, and it sustains me for hours. I've also learned that I can throw in some spinach or kale in the blender, and can't even taste it, so I'm getting that extra nutrition as well. I've found good quality organic coconut milk online, as well as at Whole Foods. I never wanted to be a vegetarian (although I don't criticize anyone who wants that lifestyle), and so, for lunch I've been eating a nice salad with homemade dressing (usually extra-virgin olive oil, apple cider vinegar, a clove of garlic, and a spice mixture), avocado, and some type of meat on it, and again I'm satisfied for several hours. At dinner, I usually throw in some steamed or roasted vegetables as well. (I love roasted Brussels sprouts!) Simple, simple, simple! As far as meats go, I have switched to grass-fed beef, organic chicken, and wild-caught fish, like salmon...I'm staying away from pre-processed foods, and I'm simply amazed by the difference it is all making! So, in summary, if you're looking for a simple plan that you can make a permanent and pretty much painless lifestyle change, I highly recommend "Maximized Living Nutrition Plans"!

Never read another Food-based book again!

This book destroys all conventional thinking in the diet-research circles. This book unrelentingly hammers out its simple, basic fundamentals, in an easy-to-understand way that will have make you experience "EUREKA!" moments over and over.

This book tells you the dangers of the modern food industry, how we have all been fooled into thinking some things are healthy when they are the opposite, and more. I am a research junkie, and this book is the #1 recommendation I have for ANYONE from ANY WALK of life who wants to learn about health and nutrition, and how it affects them.

To be clear: This is not a Diet book. This is a nutritional guide that tells you what to cut out, and what to bring into your meals, to fully recover your health and balance your hormonal system. Losing weight is simply a by-product that happens all by itself. And you will lose weight, because this book teaches you how to make your body use fat as a fuel instead of sugar.

The book is overpriced on Amazon for some unknown reason. You can research out "Maximized Living Nutrition Plans" and find their website and order from there directly for under $25.

If you don't buy this book, you are doing your health a grave injustice.

When I am reading, I will typically keep a highlighter handy to highlight sentences and info that I want to find again because I consider it critical. In this case, I am using a pink highlighter. There is no wasted space in this book. Every sentence is pertinent. Give your other "diet" books away and buy this.

This book is great for anyone who is seriously wanting to get control of their health. Not only does it tell you what you need to know to get healthy, but it also has wonderful recipes in the back to help you on your journey. I have been on this diet for 5 weeks now and can honestly say I feel better than I have in years.

With an informative text co-authored by Caleb Neelon and 'Zio', "Saber: Mad Society" is a collection showcasing graffiti wall-art as compiled and edited by Roger Gastman. Examples are taken from Los Angeles, San Francisco, and elsewhere to exemplify the style, placement and proliferation of this unique and often transitory artwork which ranges from the simple to the complex, and from the amateur to the professional. The patterns, colors, images depicted in these examples are truly impressive. The commentary provided is truly informative. Combined, they make "Saber: Mad Society" a seminal contribution to American Art History and inclusion into academic library and university art department reference collections.

The book was overall good and exciting with lots of laughs. Its kind of a kids book sort of speak... for graff writers. Mostly short storys and tons of pics. It can also be finished in one day, although i took two.

It starts out by going into sab's upbringing, which was acually interesting, kind of all makes sense. youll know what i mean when u read it.

Than it quickly dives into some of sab's legendary illegals and stomping grounds for AWR and MSK. It also grazes into a few other peoples lifes and tells some things that most people dont know.

I only wish he told more. I guess i feel that i got the short story of it all and i was in for the long. Im also very dissapointed that he never really got into king AYERS story, kinda just skipped over him.

all in all, its a book worth picking up for the price.

amazing artwork. deep, funny look into the life. in kind of a short story form.

The book goes into detail about his childhood and through his teenage years with ALOT of artwork. The stories are in detail and pull you right in! truly a great book about a west coast graffiti artist! i couldn't find this book for a while and i found it on Amazon at a really good price, so dont wait... GET IT!

Clinical Hypnosis Textbook by Ursula James - an excellent introduction

I really liked this book. It is deceptively simple. If you want to learn how to do hypnosis and add it as a tool for psychotherapy or medicine, this is the book to start with. It takes you through how to deliver hypnosis (with a CD so you can copy the intonation), and explains what is happening at each step of the process. I am really pleased that I got it, and will definitely use it now I have got to grips with the basic techniques. Excellent. Would recommend it to any professional, or anyone with a genuine interest in the real Mcoy!

This is a beginner's book on hypnosis, and not what I would consider a textbook. Very basic information for someone who doesn't know anything about hypnosis.
