Be Prepared to Be Scared!

If you think Halloween couldn't get any weirder than this, then you must be dead wrong! After two kids stumble into Jonathan Chiller's shop in HorrorLand, they soon discover that a magical Floig (a stuffed animated creature with buggy frog eyes) belongs to an alien called a Weirdo, whom they later meet in the real world, where the two kids, Meg and Chris, are in serious danger. When the children discover that Bim the Weirdo feeds on human emotions, they realize how easy it will be to make the pesky alien disappear forever. After Bim returns to his home planet, Meg returns to HorrorLand on Halloween to play a scary game for Jonathan Chiller. If she wins, Meg gets to go home. But if she loses, she must stay in HorrorLand forever. Someone is stealing Meg's idenity. It turns out that the Meg's twin is a robot and so Meg returns safely home where she belongs with her family and friends. What does Jonathan Chiller have planned for all of these kids who will return to Jonathan's Chiller House to collect their payment? Find out in the next story ark! And prepare to be scared!

Good, actually great!!!

So there is this girl, and her name is Meg. She's twelve years old. She and her brother Chris get invited to Horrorland, "Where Nightmares Come To Life!". There they go to Chiller House, owned by Jonathan Chiller. Meg gets a Floig, a small, green doll whose eyes pop out of their sockets, and a little Horror. When Halloween comes, Meg and Chris find a little boy in an orange alien costume who wrecks their house. Meg starts to suspect that the orange skin is NOT a Halloween costume......

Finally, when Bim, the alien's name, leaves, Meg is mysteriously called back to Horrorland by Chiller. She then plays a game called "Double or Nothing". In the game Meg meets a phony her. A little later, Chris comes. He thinks that Fake Meg is his sister, not the other one. It happily and madly turns out that Fake Meg and "Chris" are robots made by Chiller. He sends Meg back home. When she gets home, and goes upstairs to her room, she finds Fake Meg in there!!!!!!

In this extra long Goosebumps novel, Meg and her brother Chris return from a trip to Horrorland. They are both excited about Halloween, until they get an unexpected visitor at the door. At first, they believe it is a kid dressed in an alien costume, but soon realize it is an actual alien named Bim.

Suddenly and mysteriously, Meg and Chris are transported back to Horrorland. They are chased by robots, Horrors, Goblins and Jonathan Chiller. How will they survive?

Wow! Weirdo Halloween is twice the size of a regular Goosebumps book, and it is weird. Aliens, Goblins, and robots are thrown into this original Halloween tale, with a few twist and turns and a strange cliffhanger ending. It is a chilling read!

A truly fun book, and an intriguing idea.....

This book was a joy to read. Although not the best I've read by far, and although not as intellectually or emotionally stimulating as others I've read, sometimes you just want to read something that makes you smile - a book that is simply fun to read. This book, the story of two ordinary people in love, and how they transcend what and who they are in life, is some of the best light reading I've had in a very long time. And yes, I even cried in a few places.

How the author builds her characters, how she fleshes them out......... it's incredible.

If you're looking for something deep, something that stirs your passions, something that titillates your mind - keep looking. If you're just looking for a well written, fun-filled romp through the pages, then buy this book - and enjoy!

About the Author
G. Edward Griffin is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he majored in speech and communications. He is a recipient of the Telly Award for excellence in television production. He is the founder of the Cancer Cure Foundation and has served on the board of directors of the National Health Federation and the International Association of Cancer Victims and Friends. Two Sides (or More) to Every Story

Having previously read The Creature From Jekyll Island by the same author, I naturally wished to read this book - especially after my doctor wanted to have me for tested for bone cancer. And I am glad I did. The book presents the "trophoblast theory of cancer" in easy-to-understand terms, and this theory makes a lot of sense to me. I have since acquired the reprint of the book, The Enzyme Treatment of Cancer and its Scientific Basis, by John Beard, the originator of this theory, but it's on the stack marked "to read."

Mr. Griffin describes the work of Ernst Krebs, Jr., and makes a very strong case for amygdalin (tentatively labeled vitamin B17) and its derivative, Laetrile, as a preventative and treatment for cancer. I have since found a source for amygdalin in fresh, raw apricot seeds, and eat them as a snack several times per day in small quantities. Personally, I think they are delicious, but most of my friends think otherwise. Mr. Griffin also tells of the role of pancreatic enzymes in the control of cancer cells, and from outside reading it would appear an enzyme called serrapeptase that I'm taking for Lyme disease will work in this regard.

The second half of the book delves deeply into the world of "legal" drug cartels and the forces that appear to drive the medical and pharmaceutical establishment of the modern world. After reading Jekyll Island, above, this all seems to fit, although I am sure many readers might become a little impatient with his long analysis.

I would encourage everybody concerned with their health to read this book, as I think it contains good information regarding cancer and its origins, prevention, and treatment. However, I would also encourage people to read as much as they can find on the subject, from various points of view. Read the mainstream critiques of Laetrile with an open mind. Read about iodine and vitamin D. Read about sugar and consider the role it may play in promoting cancer.

By the way, I never did get that test for bone cancer, and that was well over a year ago. Since I have no intention of submitting to chemotherapy or radiation treatment, it really makes no difference.

THE CANCER CURE: CANCER CANNOT SURVIVE AN ALKALINE ENVIRONMENT

This is an historic book. It documents the reasons why we are still asked to donate billions of dollars to organizations that are not actually looking for a cure for cancer, because in fact a number of cures have already been found. Their goal is money, and therefore to keep the cure(s) a secret. And although B-17 (amygdalin, laetrile) can be used to kill cancer, the most effective cure for cancer is simpler yet. Because, CANCER SIMPLY CANNOT EXIST IN AN ALKALINE ENVIRONMENT. [This information is given as information only and is not intended to treat a disease.] Edgar Cayce often recommended an alkaline-forming raw vegetable diet to those with a wide range of diseases that included cancer. And his information claimed to come from the Highest Source. (See books related to Edgar Cayce.) Doctor Max Gerson proved that an alkaline-forming vegetarian diet defeats cancer. (See books related to Max Gerson.) And medical science has long known how to alkalize a body very quickly: sodium bicarbonate, otherwise known as baking soda! I overcame a severely enlarged prostate (that may have been cancerous) with the alkaline-forming diet. And years later I began putting a half teaspoon of baking soda in four ounces of water (to drink before bedtime) as an alkaline-forming cancer-preventative. A good friend who was diagnosed with "terminal" lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes) learned of my habit and reasoning. He wouldn't change his diet, but he did start drinking two doses a day of one teaspoon baking soda in water. And four months later his doctor pronounced him cancer free! When I told another friend about all this, he said, "Aunt Gladys always drank a teaspoon of baking soda in water before bed, and she lived to be 96." As it turns, the baking soda cure for the common cold, the flu, and cancer has long been known. And it has long been kept secret by the medical mafia. To learn more I recommend the book Sodium Bicarbonate: Nature's Unique First Aid Remedy by Mark Sircus.

G. Edward Griffin's book is a must read for an educated public on pertinent issues of our day, the "cancer" culture especially.

We are living in a country where there is more benefit to those prescribing" acceptable" treatments of "cancer" than actually benefit the treated. The current medical profession infuses drugs as "treatment" giving a patient the illusion of helping them, but tells them there is no cure for cancer. This is utter contradiction. Griffin's book gives documented evidence that the cancer industry is suspect and indicates that people must investigate for themselves whether or not killing the entire immune system with toxins, debilitating the patient is best treatment. He raises the issue that perhaps there is a better solution that is more beneficial and that the cause of cancer may be, as in the case of other diseases, a deficiency within the body. As with many other important issues of our day, "follow the money".

Accessible, Practical Guide for Sensitive People

If you are a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and have suffered angst and illnesses more than the average -this is a quick, short, compassionate book to get. I read it in one sitting. The author is spot on about how to take care of yourself energetically and physically (and more). Reading it is like sitting with a kind friend who knows what it's like to be an Empath or HSP, and she offers extra wisdom from guides in the Spirit realm, which is icing on the cake. (I read the book version.)

Philo: Allegory, Instruction and Apology

The exegetical skill and divine wisdom of the great Philo (ca 15 BC-50 AD) is here exemplified in five treatises that deal with the stories in Genesis from Adam/Eve's being banished from Eden down to the birth of the race of Giants prior to the Flood. The method is, of course, allegorical, which in Philo's more Greek aspect (the Judaic use of allegory was also considerable by its own right, as shown below) is mainly derived from the Homeric tradition of interpreting the passionate characters in the epics in a more philosophically acceptable way; and it is typically bolstered with Stoic and Platonic concepts in ethics and cosmology. The unrestrained freedom Philo exercises in his interpretation of the Torah, contraposed with the literalism of the Sadducees, does not necessarily abandon Judaic tradition, as it is rooted in the Pesharist technique used by the Dead Sea community (ca 250 BC-70 AD). Also, Philo's method influenced and anticipated the Rabbinic Midrash technique which was in vogue during the time of Paul and figures prominently in his epistles; and shorlty thereafter, following the destruction of the Temple (ca 70 AD), it became the general method for interpreting the Torah in rabbinic circles.

Philo is often unjustly criticized or unappreciated for his allegorical extravagence by modern exegetes. However, the modern animus for allegoresis is unfounded and is purely moderno-centric. His own contemporary prestige and his legacy testify for itself on the validity and usefulness of his method. Philo positively changed the trajectory for exegesis forever in Judeo-Christian circles, e.g. his direct or indirect influence on the NT writers and on Pharisaic/Rabbinic Judaisim and all subsequent Christian theology--thinkers like Ambrose and Augustine, and Basil and the two Gregory's come to mind in a short list. Philo is also the most eminent figure in the era known as Middle Platonism, whose ideas formed intellects such as Numenius of Apamea, Plotinus, Clement and Origen. The colossal specter of Philo looms large over a very broad scope of discipline within the sphere of philosophy and religion in the East and West, thus his legitmacy speaks for itself and laughs at his critics.

Overall, the works of Philo are highly recommended for all students and educators, layman and clergy. The Loeb editon, of course, is the best available since it contains the critical Greek text with English translation.
